Boo! ππ»π¦ππͺ
These (free & printable!) Halloween pictures can be used in lots of different ways for children (and adults!) of all ages. Each activity offers opportunities for verbal, nonverbal, and social communication. Have a wonderfully spooky time!
Craft & Chat: Print and cut out as many sets as desired. Use pictures with paste, tape, or glue to decorate a spooky mural or Halloween scene. Talk about where each picture should go. Make up stories about the characters in the scene.
Memory: Print two sets of pictures and cut them out. Select 3-10 pairs, mix them up, and set them upside down in a grid. Take turns searching for matches.
Go Fish: Print three sets of pictures and cut them out. Select 3-10 pairs, mix them up, and deal them out. Ask other players for cards in order to make sets of 3 that are placed face up in front of each player.
Charades: Print out one set of pictures and cut them out. Put the pictures into a bowl or bucket. Players take turns picking a secret picture and acting it out silently (or with sound effects to make it easier). Other players try to guess the word.
Guessing: Print out one set of pictures and cut them out. Put the pictures into a bowl or bucket.
20 Questions Style: One player picks a card and holds it facing away from them so they cannot see the picture and the other players can see the picture. The active player asks a series of yes/no questions, and the other players answer until the active player guesses the word.
Clue Style: One player picks a card and holds it facing away from them so they cannot see the picture and the other players can see the picture. Other players give the active player clues to help them guess the word.
Fishbowl / The Name Game: Print out one set of pictures and cut them out. Put the pictures into a bowl or bucket. Group members sit in a circle around a table for this party game with three rounds. For each round, the bowl gets passed around the table with each player taking a turn until all the pictures are gone. Each player gets 20-30 seconds per turn to go through as many pictures as possible. To begin the next round, put all pictures back in the bowl. If you want, divide into two teams and keep track of how many pictures your team guesses across the three rounds. The team with the most points at the end wins.
Round 1 (Taboo): The active player describes the word on the slip using normal sentences and definitions, without saying the actual word.
Round 2 (Charades): The active player acts out the word using physical gestures and pantomime with no speaking or sound effects.
Round 3 (Single Word): The active player is only allowed to say a single word (or repeat a single word) to help your team guess the clue.
Happy Halloween!
